NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Maria Onore Bryant, died in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. Soon after the crash, an old tweet and a cartoon episode went viral, because both seemed to predict his death. In this post, you can see both, and what most likely explains them.

The 2012 Tweet That Went Viral
On November 13, 2012, a Twitter user posted a tweet that read: “Kobe is going to end up dying in a helicopter crash.” The tweet went viral after Bryant and eight other people, including his daughter, died in the crash. Fans reacted harshly and criticized the Twitter user, who goes by the name “Noso”, and asked him to delete the tweet.
I screen-recorded the tweet in the video at the top of this page, so you can still see it even if it gets deleted one day. Here is the original tweet:
Kobe is going to end up dying in a helicopter crash
— dot (@dotNoso) November 13, 2012
Coincidence: “Noso” allegedly posted the tweet on the same day the news came out that the NBA legend flew his teammate Steve Blake in his helicopter.
So, Is the Tweet Real?
Some people called the tweet fake, while others said it was real.
One Twitter user explained that the tweet was probably a reaction to a story published on usatoday.com on November 13, 2012. The story was about Kobe flying his teammate Steve Blake to the doctor in his helicopter. So “Noso” probably read the news and tweeted that Kobe Bryant would die in a helicopter crash.
When the tweet was posted, Bryant’s fans were angry. Another user defended the Twitter user and said the comment was only made because of the news that Bryant liked to fly by helicopter to avoid traffic.
Kobe Bryant’s Death Predicted in a Cartoon
Another video that went viral is an episode of the Comedy Central TV show Legends of Chamberlain Heights, which showed Kobe dying in a helicopter crash. The episode aired on November 17, 2016.
In the episode, which has since been removed from the Comedy Central website, the basketball legend is trapped in the wreckage of a helicopter with his NBA trophies before it bursts into flames. At 1:25 in my video, you can see this clip from the cartoon. We love basketball, and Kobe is our NBA legend.
A “Premonition” From Dwight Howard
NBA star Dwight Howard also made a kind of “premonition” when he was asked what he thought about LeBron James passing Bryant’s record:
“We don’t appreciate each other as much as we should as a humanity. Something like that should be appreciated. We should appreciate people while they’re alive.”
Rest in peace, Kobe Bryant.
