Update (October 2026): this post is from November 2020. Microsoft no longer offers the 20H2 ISO. Its official download page now gives you the final version of Windows 10, version 22H2. Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, but you can still get security updates with ESU (see how to extend Windows 10 security updates for free) or move to Windows 11 (see how to install Windows 11 26H2, even on an unsupported PC).
In October 2020, after several months of Insider testing, Microsoft released the Windows 10 October 2020 Update, version 20H2, to the public. Like the previous versions, it was a phased rollout, so not everyone got it at the same time. With the ISO files, though, you could install version 20H2 right away, as an upgrade or a clean install, without waiting for the update notification. Once the official ISO files were out, there was no need for any tedious workaround.

The official download page works for both the Home and Pro editions. Today it offers the final version, 22H2:
Official download page: Windows 10 download page (Microsoft)
To download the ISO file in your language (Home and Pro), follow these steps:
- Go to the official download site: Download Windows 10 Disc Image (ISO File).
-
Under Select edition, choose Windows 10 and click Confirm. There is only one Windows 10 option, because it works for both the Pro and the Home edition. Today it is called Windows 10 (multi-edition ISO).

- Under Select the product language, choose your language and click Confirm.
- You now see two buttons, one for the 64-bit and one for the 32-bit download. Click the one you need and the download starts.
The October 2020 Update was the second “service pack-like” release from Microsoft, after version 1909 in 2019. Devices that already ran the May 2020 Update (version 2004) received it like a monthly cumulative update, which greatly reduced the installation time.
